Geotechnical Engineer: 4 to 10 years experience. North Carolina PE or ability to acquire within 1 year. Masters preferred. Knowledgeable in deep and shallow foundations, slope stability, dams, soil stabilization, geosynthetics, retaining walls, groundwater hydrology, soil and rock laboratory procedures, etc. Must be willing to train for and assume an administrative position within 4 years. Good verbal and written communication skills are mandatory. Marketing skills a plus.
Professional Land Surveyor: Registration in North Carolina and 7 years experience required. Must have experience with Land Development Desktop and TDS data collection, Construction, GPS, Topographic, Design and Subdivision Surveys. The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate with clients and manage a team of 4 survey crews and 2 survey technicians. The candidate should be oriented toward personal growth as well as company growth. Must have a valid North Carolina drivers license
Certified Welding Inspector: Applicant must meet the qualifications of Sections 5.2, 6.1 and 6.2 of AWS B5.1 – Specification for the Qualification of Welding Inspectors. The successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills, be able to interact well with architects, structural engineers, contractors and owners, and have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Three years experience and qualifications in UT, radiography, and dye penetrant testing a plus.
CMT Assistant Manager: Engineering Intern or equal to manage day to day issues and assist CMT Manager in execution of job duties.
Traffic Engineer: Professional Engineer with 5+ years experience in Traffic Impact Analysis, intersection improvement, signalization, traffic calming, and traffic plans.
Civil/Land Development Engineer: CESI is seeking a civil/land development engineer with 2-4 years of experience. The successful candidate will be willing to work on multidiscipline projects ranging from preliminary land development work through full permitting for all aspects of civil design including but not limited to zoning issues, grading, erosion control, storm drainage, detention and urban storm water management issues, flood studies, sanitary water and sewer, street and road design. Candidate must be extremely honest, forthright, and aggressive in resolving issues with projects and clients. CESI promotes a team concept and the candidate must be willing to work within that framework. Basic computer skills as well as specialized knowledge and ability to operate AutoCAD 2006 & 2007 LDT; specifically, candidate must be able to use LDT to create grading plans, roads, cross sections, profiles as well as using basic AutoCAD commands for drawing, modification and manipulation of drawings. Preference will be given to those with at least an EI certification; CESI aggressively encourages advancement to professional engineer level.
Inspector: The job requires the inspector to perform inspection services for water, sewer, road and storm drain installation on projects in the Charlotte Metro area. Experience not required but a plus. Candidate must be organized, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to be effective in stressful situations.
Part-time receptionist: Successful applicant will be able to multi-task and manage phone system for 50+ person office, directing calls and screening out solicitors and other non-business related calls. Must be friendly, high energy, and be able to convey a positive firm image in person and by telephone. Additional tasks will require the ability to perform various duties in word processing and review and quality control of archived materials, plus other tasks as assigned. The ability to anticipate client needs and act as a facilitator and problem solver is a must. This position will require someone who enjoys dealing with the public, is not easily discouraged by high maintenance clients, and who is able to motivate co-workers. Construction Materials Technician: Soils, concrete, steel, and asphalt testing experience a plus. Willing to train qualified applicant.
Survey Crew Chief: The basic function of the survey crew chief is to supervise and direct the field crew in the completion of various types of field operations including boundary and location surveys, topographic surveys, GPS surveys, route location surveys, construction staking and other types of surveys of surveys as required by the company. Responsibilities and Duties include: Assist the survey project manager in planning, coordinating and controlling field operations and coordinate with CADD operators in completing office computations and mapping. Provide leadership for the field crew in performing the survey in an efficient and cost effective manner. Communicate with on-site client supervisors, property owners and the general public as needed. Neatly prepare thorough and accurate field notes and sketches for all assigned projects and complete administrative tasks for time keeping and project billing. Develop and maintain proficiency in surveying methods and technologies through continuing education and training. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew. Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment by ensuring cleanliness and by promptly reporting problems. Read and interpret maps, deeds, and construction documents. Performs activities of workers supervised.
Survey Technician: Must have experience with Land Development Desktop, Experience with Microstation is a plus. The candidate should have experience in Boundary, Topographic, GPS, Subdivision and Construction surveys. Must have a valid North Carolina drivers license.
Survey Instrument Operator: The basic function of the survey instrument operator is to assist the survey crew chief in the completion of various types of field operations including boundary and location surveys, topographic surveys, GPS surveys, route location surveys, construction staking, and other types of surveys as required by the company. Develop and become proficient with new surveying methods and technologies through continuing education and training. Responsible for daily maintenance and operation of field equipment to include electronic total stations, GPS receivers, levels, data collectors, and other field survey instruments in the collection of field data. Responsible for proper use of survey data collection codes and input which will assist and enhance CADD operations. Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment by ensuring cleanliness and by promptly reporting problems. Receive and understand written and verbal instructions and follow directions. Required to have some proficiency in mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Responsible for developing ability to read and interpret maps, deeds, and construction documents.
Part Time Runner: This individual will need a good driving record with ability to follow road map directions through out the Charlotte area. Also they will need to be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs. and willing to do some other work as directed. This part time runners job will probably start with 10 to 12 hours and within a couple of months go to 16 hours.
