Description: CESI managed the Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities (CMU) Clear Creek sanitary sewer from alignment designs through construction administration. The CESI Project Engineer and Project Surveyor walked the proposed alignment routes utilizing ArcPad software and GPS Pathfinders to develop the proposed routes and manhole locations. This process reduced the impact on multiple property owners and placed manholes for advantageous construction. As the survey division of CESI established horizontal and vertical control and prepared the boundary and topographic surveys, the engineering division prepared a report detailing alignment alternatives and required trunk sizes. After meeting with CMU and reviewing the data, CESI finalized the most desirable alignment, both horizontally and vertically, based on right-of-way concerns, topography, capacity, extendibility, constructability, and cost. All designs were to CMU specifications. CESI then obtained all necessary permits including encroachments and erosion control permits. CESI prepared easement maps for each parcel and coordinated with the Charlotte Real Estate Division. Construction of this project is currently underway and CESI is performing the construction staking, as-built surveys, full-time inspection, and construction contract administration.
