Concord, North Carolina
Description: CESI provided geotechnical engineering, environmental, construction materials testing and surveying services for the facility, which was named after a former superintendent of Cabarrus County Schools. Site development was hindered by shallow bedrock, which our geotechnical staff successfully helped mitigate. The elementary school opened in August 2007. The school has 33 regular classrooms and 2 self contained rooms. Built as a “green school”, Furr Elementary contains no chemicals that are considered environmentally harmful and all paper products are recyclable or biodegradable.
