Concord, North Carolina
Description: This project is a 280,000 sf office-flex space consisting of 4 buildings on approximately 28 acres located in the International Corporate Center at I-85 and International Dr. The first phase is the construction of the first 70,000 sf building and the grading of the entire 28 acres along with a regional detention facility for the entire project. CESI has performed surveying services during the initial stages of the project by providing existing road and utility surveys to enhance the aerial topography and for construction staking of the project for the contractor. Site Civil Design plans included site layout, grading, drainage, water sewer, and electrical site layout. Extensive coordination for the utilities was required to meet the city’s needs as well as the future needs of the site. Water and sewer inspections and certifications are being performed by CESI, as well as construction staking. Our geotechnical engineering department performed explorations and evaluations of the subsurface conditions at the site throughout the 28-acre parcel. Significant grade changes required balancing of the site during earthwork using less than desirable soils, such as weak silts and high plasticity clay. Careful staging of materials and the use of lime stabilization during preparation of both light- and heavy-duty pavements facilitated a fully balanced site without any haul off or import of off-site materials.
