Charlotte, NC
Description:Taubman Centers Inc. is currently constructing an enclosed, two-level regional shopping center named Northlake Mall in suburban Charlotte, N.C. The 1.1-million-square-foot shopping center is scheduled to open in September 2005 and will feature up to 150 stores and restaurants, plus five anchors: Dillard's (186,000 square feet), Belk (180,000 square feet), Hecht's (165,000 square feet), Dick's Sporting Goods (76,000 square feet) and a 14-screen AMC Theatres megaplex (60,000 square feet). Northlake Mall will be designed and merchandised to complement the area's active year-round lifestyles and rich historic traditions. There is no comparable super regional mall opportunity available to the residents and visitors of the dynamic North Charlotte market. CESI engineering and testing personnel have designed and provided the quality control for a reconstructed road, which fronts the mall and for 1.1 miles of new access road adjacent to the west side of the mall. Foundation design services for mass grading and structures within the out parcels of the mall have been provided, as well as the design of a high hazard earth dam for storm water retention in the area. Geotechnical engineering, special inspections and materials testing are current CESI services in support of the Owner during construction of the AMC Theatres megaplex.
